Welcome

Critical Social Policy - more than just a journal

Critical Social Policy is an academic journal published quarterly by Sage. Since its inception 40 years ago, CSP has been more than just a journal; it’s a political project that challenges orthodox approaches to social policy, welfare, and the state. Our goal is to critically interrogate social policy within the context of national and global social change.

Through CSP, we champion social justice through critical thought and grassroots action  to advocate for a fairer society. We do this through:

  • The journal: publishing articles and commentaries on social justice, power, resistance and political transformation – please visit the CSP Sage website for more details.

  • Living Activism: a section of the journal which invites and mentors activists, advocates, practitioners, and service users to share their work in ending social injustice.

  • Solidarity Fund: a fund which provides small grants to activist groups and service users, supporting initiatives that align with socialist, feminist, anti-racist, and radical approaches to social policy and welfare.

We invite you to explore our website to learn more about contributing to Living Activism, applying for our Solidarity Fund, or discovering more about the journal and editorial collective through our About Us page and the Living Activism podcast.
